Play Mafia without a narrator
Nobody has to sit out to run the game. Your phones can handle the secret parts while you talk face to face.
What an automatic narrator does
In a traditional Mafia game, one person knows every role, calls the night actions and announces the results. That person cannot take part in the guessing. Mafia Round keeps those jobs in the browser: it assigns roles privately, collects choices, resolves the night and counts the day votes.
The host still starts the room and chooses the settings, but can play a normal role. Hosting does not reveal the other players' secret roles in automatic mode.
Set up your first game
- Gather at least five players in the same room. Each person needs a phone with an internet connection and a browser.
- Start a Mafia game, enter your name and share the room code.
- Ask everyone else to join with the code. Check that all players are in the lobby.
- Choose the app to run the game. Keep the suggested roles and settings for your first round.
- Start, read your role privately, and confirm that you are ready. The first day lets everyone introduce themselves before the first night.
How can night actions stay secret?
Everyone uses their phone at night. Mafia choose a target, the Doctor protects someone and the Detective investigates. Civilians answer a harmless question. Similar screens and interactions help avoid giving away a role just because someone is tapping their phone.
Keep screens to yourselves and wait for the morning result before discussing what happened. A quiet night does not prove who the Doctor protected: the game does not announce a successful save.
The conversation still belongs to you
The app cannot decide who sounds convincing. During the day, compare stories, ask questions and let everyone speak. When you are finished, mark that you have said your piece. Vote on your own phone when the vote opens.
Players who are out should avoid revealing information or coaching the remaining players. Agree on that before starting so the final rounds stay fair.
Automatic narrator or a human narrator?
Choose the automatic mode when everyone wants to play or nobody knows the script. Choose a human narrator when someone enjoys performing the story and guiding the group. In human mode, the narrator sees the roles and does not play, so bring at least five players plus that narrator.
